Membership

As a Care For Hedland member, you will be joining a diverse demographic of supporters of the Association including residents, local businesses, industry, community and indigenous representation from Port and South Hedland. Your generosity helps Care For Hedland by supporting a range of programs, including seasonal Flatback turtle monitoring, recycling initiatives, regular clean ups, gardening workshops and educational talks at schools and daycares.

Volunteering

Care For Hedland is a not-for-profit organisation and thus relies greatly on dedicated volunteers. We regularly hold fundraising and community-centred events and love seeing the community get involved.

Regular volunteer events

Community Garden: please watch our Facebook page and join Hedland Garden Club Facebook group for updates.

Adopt-a-Spot:Litter clean ups are each month (specific location changes each time). Volunteers collect roadside litter from 7.00am-8:00am to protect the environment and improve the appearance of the area. Gloves and bags are supplied but a hat and water bottle are recommended.

21st June 2025: Shell Roadhouse/Bike Path Port and South Hedland Rd

12th July 2025: SHOATA Rd turn-off (Hamilton Rd)

9th August 2025 – Road Leading to South Hedland Landfill (cnr Buttweld Rd and North Circular) Clean Up
Australia Great Northern Clean Up & Keep Australia Beautiful Week

20th September 2025 – North Circular opposite Black Rock Caravan Park World Clean Up Day

11th October 2025 – WA Beach Clean Up

8th November 2025– Opposite Puma/Caltex Roadhouse (Port to South Hedland Rd)

Turtle Program: Turtle time kicks off in November and goes through to end of January. Turtle training weekend is held last weekend in October – watch our socials for details 🐢

Care For Hedland is a not-for-profit organisation which relies on support from the community to run its community-based environmental projects like the Flatback turtle monitoring program, Hedland Garden Club and recycling and litter prevention initiatives.
